Course Description:
Learn how to recognize and respond to human trafficking scenarios that could arise in the medical profession. This is a trauma informed and survivor reviewed course that provides a continuing education and course completion certificate.
This course is under review by TX-HHS and the TSBDE due to revised standards. HHSC will approve courses based on these new standards, with previously approved courses valid until March 12. Starting March 13, only courses on the HHSC website will be approved. As of March 12th, this course does not meet the state requirements for healthcare professionals.
Educational Objectives:
At course completion, the attendee will be able to:
- Recognize and identify scenarios in which human trafficking may be occurring,
- Understand the communications skills required to address potential trafficking victims,
- Awareness of the sensitivities of victims and potential trigger points,
- Contact emergency services and document trafficking in the healthcare setting,
- Raise awareness and work with community leaders and programs to understand the services available to victims and survivors alike.
