Course Description:

A Laser Safety Officer (LSO) is required in any dental practice that utilizes a dental laser. The Laser Safety Officer holds responsibility for the management of risk from lasers in the practice, and the authority to ensure compliance with applicable standards and rules.

Educational Objectives:

At course completion, the attendee will be able to:

• Effectively enact the responsibilities of the Laser Safety Officer,
• Employ the appropriate safety and hazard controls in the practice,
• Understanding the purpose of “nominal hazard zones” and “maximum permissible exposure” limits.
• Ensure team members have the proper training and materials available for safe operation of lasers in their work environment,
• Maintain the appropriate documentation, maintenance, and training records.
