Course Description:

Where would modern medicine be without radiography? As beneficial as radiography is, there are occupational safety risks that employees must be aware of. The Basic Radiography Safety training module helps employees understand and mitigate the risks of radiography.

This training module explains radiographic procedures in simple language, helping your office team develop an appreciation for radiography—and a knowledge of the dangers involved.

Educational Objectives:

At course completion, the attendee will be able to:

  • Recognize the biological risks of radiography
  • Explain which factors determine the level of radiation the patient receives
  • Analyze when to reduce dental x-ray dosages
  • Decide what protective equipment and devices should be used to protect patients and dental personnel
  • Perform patient positioning correctly
  • Determine what settings to use on radiographic equipment for increased safety 
  • Employ protocols to minimize radiographic exposure
